Tom Waits.

I am seldom at a lack for words, but seeing Tom Waits live last night has left me speechless. Almost. I have been wanting and waiting to see him for close to twenty years. His music is, well, it is some of my favorite stuff in the world.

The man is quite simply the coolest dude on the planet. He was positioned on a small platform with just enough room for him to stomp around like a baptist revival preacher. His stage had chalk on the floor so that when he would slam his foot down he was literally kicking up dust. I was in the 20th row and even got down to the stage for the encore “16 shells from a thirty Ought.” His sons played in the band as well – one on drums, the other on Clarinet.

i was brought to tears more than once and it will be one of the highlights of living here. Heck it will be one of the highlights of living my whole life.

Here is a clip from the tour – not my show, but he is singing Falling Down, one of my favorite songs.
